Mississauga City Centre has grown from humble beginnings to one of Canada’s largest employment, retail and residential hubs.
Square One Shopping Centre anchors the area. One of Canada’s largest shopping malls, it provides a seemingly endless array of retail & dining amenities. Surrounding it to the south, east and west are clusters of commercial buildings and residential high-rises (including the visually striking Absolute World towers). Several small parks are located to the south and west, while to the east lies a series of trails following Mississauga Valley. Additionally, the city’s Celebration Square sits in the community, and has become a highly popular year-round event space.
Transportation in Mississauga City Centre
Both GO Transit and MiWay operate large bus terminals adjacent to Square One. Both agencies take advantage of the Mississauga Transitway, a dedicated bus lane running east to Pearson Airport and west to the city’s border with Oakville. From their respective terminals, GO and MiWay provide frequent service to a wide array of local and regional destinations. In addition, upon its completion in 2024 the Hurontario LRT will also serve the area via stations at Square One and at the Hurontario/Burnhamthorpe intersection. Drivers can take advantage of direct access to Highway 403, as well as close proximity to Highway 401 and Queen Elizabeth Way.
