A historic community centered around a country railway station, Georgetown continues to grow into a prominent bedroom community for the Greater Toronto Area.
Downtown Georgetown is centered along Main Street, and is home to a number of quaint and architecturally significant buildings that house a variety of independent businesses. A secondary commercial & retail district lies to the east along Guelph Street, where a number of big-box stores have locations. A number of parks and other recreational areas lie inside the community itself, while numerous hiking trails are just a short distance away in all directions.
