Square One District Condos: Development Info
Square One District is planned to ultimately consist of 2,193 residential units, which will be spread between four high-rise buildings. The first phase of the development will include two towers rising to 36 and 48 storeys, respectively. The buildings will have a shared podium, and are planned to include 977 residential units. Phase 2, which will comprise 1,216 residential units, is also to be made up of two towers. These will reach heights of 65 storeys and 55 storeys, respectively.
In addition to these new residences, the Square One District is being designed to be a truly mixed-use community, with an array of employment centres and retail options to be located within walking distance. At the heart of the new neighborhood will be a pedestrian-friendly thoroughfare. Known as “The Strand”, it will feature street-level retail, unique public art installments and a lush, walkable park space.
Square One District Condos: Location Profile
Square One District is situated in Mississauga City Centre. This suburban district has grown to be one of the Greater Toronto Area’s largest employment and transit hubs outside of Downtown Toronto. A wide array of shopping, dining and cultural amenities can be found in close proximity:
- Square One Shopping Centre (from which this development takes its name) is directly to the south, and is one of the largest malls in Canada.
- Whole Foods, T&T, Rabba, No Frills and Metro are all located nearby.
- Numerous big-box stores also have locations in the area, such as Wal-Mart, Staples, Winners and Hudson’s Bay.
- A Cineplex is located a short distance to the west.
- Mississauga‘s new Living Arts Centre provides a modern venue for a wide array of cultural events.
- A campus of Sheridan College is several blocks to the south of Square One District.
The combination of GO Transit’s Square One Bus Terminal and MiWay’s Mississauga City Centre Bus Terminal gives residents of Square One District some of the best transit coverage outside of Downtown Toronto. In addition, upon its completion in 2024 the Hurontario LRT will offer frequent light rail service to Port Credit, Brampton and a host of popular destinations in between. For drivers, Highway 403 is just minutes away, while Highway 401 and the Queen Elizabeth Way are also close by.
