Current plans call for the redeveloped Highway 400 & Highway 7 to include a total of fourteen residential buildings, ranging in height from eight storeys to 45 storeys. Five high-rise condominium buildings will be located along the eastern edge of the site, with nine mid-rises taking up much of the remainder. Between them will be new streets and numerous green spaces that will be designed to serve as common areas.
The Highway 400 & Highway 7 SmartCentre lies on the western edge of Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, and is in close proximity to much of the district’s retail amenities:
- Home Depot, Best Buy, Winners, Staples, Canadian Tire and HomeSense all have locations within walking distance.
- Fortinos, Nations Fresh Foods, Wal-Mart and Costco are all close by, with several independent grocers also being easily accessible.
- York University is easily accessible via the subway, while Seneca College is also nearby.
- Canada’s Wonderland and Vaughan Mills are just minutes to the north.
- Giovanni Caboto Park and Chancellor District Park are within walking distance to the west.
A station on the VIVA bus rapid transit network is situated just to the south of the development site, and will be easily accessible to residents. The northern terminus of Line 1 Yonge-University is located across Highway 400, and offers easy access to Downtown Toronto and a host of other popular destinations. For drivers, the presence of Highway 400 and Highway 407 put much of the rest of the Greater Toronto Area in reach.
