Oakville’s Uptown Core has been designed to be a truly mixed-use community, with condominiums, townhomes and a host of retail amenities all concentrated in a pedestrian-friendly node.
The Uptown Core is centered around the intersection of Dundas Street and Trafalgar Road. A master-planned community, its core is laid out in a quarter-circle shape. Most of the shops and restaurants are located in this area, along with the the majority of the high-rise and mid-rise condominiums. Surrounding the central quadrant are blocks of single-family homes, which spread in all directions from the central core. In terms of recreational amenities, Trafalgar Memorial Park is located in the heart of the neighborhood, while the nearby Nipigon Trail and the Morrison Valley Trail provide lengthy pathways for walking & cycling.
Transportation in the Uptown Core
Oakville Transit operates bus service along all major streets in the neighborhood, with many routes connecting at the Uptown Core Terminal at the Dundas/Trafalgar intersection. From there, buses run throughout the city, while GO Transit buses also stop in the area and provide service to destinations throughout the GTA. Oakville GO station is a short drive or bus ride to the south, and is served by trains on the Lakeshore West line every 30 minutes or better seven days a week. Additionally, Highway 403, Highway 4o7 and the Queen Elizabeth Way are all easily accessible.
